Cracking Talk

We don’t usually have meetings on Wednesdays but last Wednesday’s speaker was well worth the change of day. L. Bruce Keith, of the Milestone Society came to talk to us about – yes, you guessed it – Milestones! Actually the talk was based around his second book, Are We Nearly There Yet A journey that began when Bruce was just a wee lad and has ended up with him travelling all over the UK and especially Scotland, taking photos and recording every kind of mile post and mile stone that you could think of – and some that you couldn’t.

You can find information about Bruce’s first book Bridgescapes here

The talk was accompanied by over 50 slides, many of which are illustrated in the book and includes some Mull mileposts and stones, and Bruce’s talk of over an hour – with no notes – and loads of funny and entertaining anecdotes that had us in stitches.

Despite the fact that the ‘tech’ got the better of me, (must try harder) Bruce was completely unfazed and carried on like a trouper. It was a real treat. I have all his slides on my laptop and I (think) the talk was recorded so we just need some help to put the two together so that we can upload it to our You Tube channel.

I’ve lined Bruce up for another talk based around his third book, Scotland – beneath the surface  – an intriguing title if ever there was one.

Watch out for this – you don’t want to miss it!
